It Was 14 Years Ago Today...

So, our "Milly", aka Em, celebrates her 14th birthday on Sunday.

Fourteen. Going on 25. Going on two. And all within a minute of each other.

We sometimes forget that she's still a child, but growing into a wonderful young woman. And she sometimes forgets that she's growing up, but is still a child in so many ways she doesn't even realize.

It was just yesterday that I held her in my arms, just a tiny baby who came out struggling to breathe. It was a rough start for both of us, but somehow we both made it through.

We are as close as a mother and daughter can be. She is my everything, my sunlight, my love.
She is everything I could ever have wanted in a daughter, and so much more than I ever even knew could exist in another human being. And I am amazed that she still loves to hang out with me, is so gentle when it really matters, and calls me one of her best friends. She even thinks I'm cool at times.

She is one of the funniest people I know, the absolute smartest girl I know, and the prettiest girl I know. She's beautiful in every sense of the word.

Happy Birthday, Em! I love you more than life itself. And I can't wait to go to Sephora with you again and put on crazy lip gloss and laugh. Just the two of us.

How sweet is that!!??
Happy Birthday Em! Your right, she is a beauty.

"Hey, I did a really really good essay on interpersonal communication way back when. I'll see if I can find it, and I'll send it to you! I think I got a B+ on it. Is that good enough??" - And don't tease me with this. I definitely want it if you can find it. YOu could have gotten a "C" and I would still take it - lol.

Wishing Em a very happy birthday. Teenagers are always being the child and the adult simultaneously, so get used to it.
