Phew!

I have probably never wanted a holiday as much as I do this year.

No, that's not true.

I KNOW I have never wanted a holiday as much as I do this year. Yeah, that's better.

Because, guys, I've been working so very very hard. So hard, in fact, that I've pretty much lost every single reader I ever had on this blog, which would amount to about 2.5. It's been so long that I almost forgot how to write a blog post. Oh, you're so funny. I heard you say, "Forgot? You never could write." Hahaha, very funny, folks.

So, like I said, I've been really busy, probably busier than I was when I gave birth to my firstborn child, Em, when I believed I was so incredibly busy I only had time for two naps a day.

Since September, I've barely had time to scratch my left butt cheek with the vigor I am used to, having to resort to a quick jab with the point of my pencil as I study. And study. And study some more.

And now, the semester is over. One more exam tomorrow, and then it's over. For now.

This semester has been interesting, to say the least. I've met a whole new bunch of people, all younger than I am, but only physically speaking, as in, they don't have jowls, saggy boobies, or birth stories. The course work is challenging, which isn't a bad thing (except when I'm still up at 2 a.m. studying -- then, it's BAD), and most of it is even interesting. Now that I'm left with only one final exam, I realize I no longer know what to do with myself when I don't have 1,243 things to do on my ever-expanding Things To Do List.

That's not to say I don't have a gargantuan amount to do. Nay, the opposite. What I mean is that I have three weeks of no exams, no tests, no stressful situations, no crazy scenarios where I'm on the verge of crapping my pants for three hours straight because I don't feel confident enough in my abilities to splint someone's stupid broken leg, which is actually not even broken because it's just a scenario, but I tend to forget these things when I'm in the thick of it.

As it stands, over the holidays, I think I'm going to have some time to relax, watch some movies, maybe even read a couple of non-medical books. Yeah, I know. Amazing. I still don't believe it.

Of course, I still have all my Christmas shopping to do, and cleaning, and organizing, but I'm actually kind of looking forward to it all, BECAUSE IT'S NOT READING ABOUT AVULSIONS AND ARTERIAL BLEEDS. Yes!!!

Although, now that I've said that, I do have a pile of medical readings to do over the holidays, in preparation for next semester. I've been told, in no uncertain terms, that if I don't get way ahead in these, I'm totally screwed for the semester.

So, if you're wondering what I'm really doing over the holidays, besides getting totally inebriated at least twice, picture this: I'll be on the couch, with my coffee and Bailey's, sphygmomanometer in hand, fire in the fireplace, with at least one medical text in hand, smiling because life could be so much worse.
